Kyiyv Eco Conference

April 27, 2013
Four students from Rivne Specialist school №15 namely Dmytro Havrylevych, Ivan Lytsiuk, Karina Vozniuk, Kateryna Stepaniuk and their  English teachers Iryna Pukas and Tetyana Chupryniuk took part in the international Eco Project, supported by the British Council. They visited Kyiv  gymnasium №191 for the  training seminar  organized by Olena Lukjianets, CC project coordinator. Students  from Kyiv  and the region schools, partners of the project “Studying Together” discussed environmental problems on that seminar.  Students shared their thoughts on the topic and presented their videos about the contribution of every school in solving ecological problems in Ukraine.

Vania Lutsiuk Form 10B:
"I supposed that it would be not very interesting to discuss the ecological problems –all of them are common knowledge issues. It came out in the result of my participation in the Eco Conference in Kiev  on April 26 that to know about the  eco- matters and to take  even a small step to change the situation- are two different things! So, more about training: I was amazed to try my hand in gardening. It turned to be not boring as I’d expected: that was different from working on dacha but much fun planting trees on the Alley of Friendship! To sum up, I got a lot of new information, met new friends, and enjoyed nice weather and beautiful city-Kiev!  I' m proud that I’m among those  who care not only about themselves, but the world around us."

A Toy for a Child Project

That’s a story how one can start a project which will bring joy and fun into many people’s lives.

August 2012 became very special for Rivne Specialist School # 15 as we hosted 10 students and 3 teachers from our CC North Cyprus partner schools. We all enjoyed the Fest of Ukrainian Culture with its spirit of creativity, great craft exhibitions, shopping, folk dance concerts, music and fireworks at night. Ozge Tahiroglu, a teacher from Nicosia Turkish Maarif College, wanted to find a special present for her little daughter. She came across a master class workshop organized for children and their parents and spent her time making a toy.  It was so interesting and engaging that she offered to organize a project which would give the chance to work together, know each other’s cultures better and bring warmth into the hearts of those who will receive the toy as a gift of love and care. So, Iryna Zaitseva, an artist and teacher from Rivne, supported the idea with working out a pattern for the toys and helped organize a workshop to make soft toys.
